the Fort is invaded by the musclecar forumers
Took Sally out to the Fort to meet up with the rest of the crew. It was fun. Inspite of what appeared to inclement weather any excuse to take her top off was a good one. In fact as she passed through Serendra a couple of girls shouted “Nice car!” And as she passed through Bonifacio High Street, the pedestrian cell phones were held up to take MMS’s of her. Well, she is a head turner.
Sally and I met up with the others at the parking lot. Cherrybomber found a new dude as well with the ZZ Top mobile. All we were waiting for was girls to pop out in true 80s video fashion. With twirling guitars and all.

still there
Yup. The added bling is well liked by Sally. Just listen to her purr about it in this vid of her 289 expressing delight at the new addition. More to come next week I hope.

too fast too furious?
Which now brings me to the original. When they decided to take the typical cinema music bed off in favor of the sound of the raw, brute power of the cars it gave it far more impact. Pun definitely intended. Now you know why Sally doesn’t have a sound system on board.

how i got into old cars
For as far as I can remember I had been fascinated with vintage iron. My first motorcycle was a 1960 Triumph Bonneville T120. The 120 was reputedly how fast it would go. Kindda like the XK120 was so called due to max speed. Now with the fade of old drum brakes I don’t think anyone would lke to do the “ton-up” with these anymore.
Sometimes it amazes people how I could see and old car and see beyond the rust and crap that would have heads shake in dismay. Is it just me who sees a hulk of steel brimming with history? Stories just waiting to be told? An era long lost?
Nowadays the industry doesn’t seem to have the giants it once had. Men who shaped history and defined a generation. Cars tend to have that cookie cutter look. Could that explain the emergence of the retro look? And the revival of old marques? I have seen photos of the z8 on my dad’s laptop and funny how the steering wheel resembes this old steering wheel from an Alfa I have lying around in storage.
Could there be soul lacking in the cars of today that they must borrow from the old?
