experience is the best teacher
And sometimes you can rely on other people’s experience to learn as well.

so-called experts
The hobby is filled with many experts. Sometimes it is amazing because these “experts” have dissenting opinions and even more peculiarly – facts. That is why the internet is such a boon. Now you can actually research on various car things to validate or debunk the “expert” opinion.
My favorite line from the “expert” is – I have been doing this for (fill in your own exaggerated number) years so what do you know?
To paraphrase a French saying – If a million people do a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing.
